Assistant Controller

Chapel Hill Offices

This job requires in-depth knowledge of the related party inter-company and consolidation processes and deep technical accounting knowledge to assist in all aspects of accounting for a large organization.  Significant experience with the consolidation of operations is a must. This role will interact with all internal departments and external auditors, to maintain the accounting records for the company. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller would be representative of the appropriate background for this position.  In depth knowledge and application of job costing is required.  Potential candidate will have 5-7 years of experience as a Accounting Manager.

Job Responsibilities

- Oversee all accounting functions.

- Ensure that required Company financial records are accurately and adequately maintained, including General Ledger and supporting subsidiary ledgers for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory and Fixed Assets. 

- Coordinating the monthly G/L close process to ensure a timely and accurate close;

- Prepare global consolidation of all legal entities of the company and its affiliates, resulting in the preparation of consolidated balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flows on a quarterly and annual basis;

- Research technical accounting issues and prepare memos surrounding their treatment;

- Maintain eliminations of intercompany activities, including investments in subsidiary entities;

- Maintain month-end revenue and cost recognition process by ensuring journal entries are created to support monthly activity and related accounts are reconciled to General Ledger.

- Preparation and/or review of G/L entries and reconciliations for various entities

- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and established procedures, while improving said controls.

- Completing various reporting requirements

- Promoting an environment of continual improvement in procedures

- Prepare monthly statements and consolidations for the company

- Provide technical and managerial support for the CFO as well as acting on behalf of the CFO in his absence.

Required Skills

- CPA license required

- Consolidation accounting proficiency

- In depth knowledge and application of job costing.

- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP

- Strong communication skills with several levels of employees

- Knowledge and application of concepts such has hypothetical liquidation values, self-constructed assets, direct and indirect job costing

- Detailed record-keeping (accuracy is a must)

Land Developer-Specialist

Chapel Hill/Durham, NC

The land developer specialist role is to assist with the real estate development/acquisitions for our Solar Company. This includes seeking, updating and supporting pre-construction development activities. The land developer will also contribute to problem solving by providing hands-on support.

Education:

  • Bachelor- level college degree
  • 3 years of Real Estate related experience

Duties:

  • Working with internal and external sales network in procurement and underwriting

Of potential utility-scale solar farms

  • Work with local planning districts in entitling development
  • Prepare internal overview documents for project team on site
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for entitlement process
  • Attend public meetings for entitlement efforts
  • Review and negotiate real estate transactions

Experience & Skills:

  • Ability to speak in public
  • Ability to develop and work with sale network
  • Sales Ability
  • Moderate proficiency with Powerpoint, Adobe, Excel, and other office software

Staff Accountant (Chapel Hill)

The Staff Accountant is responsible for all internal accounting and finance functions, preparing financial statements, year-end closings, workers compensation audits.

• Maintain General Ledger for parent company and all related entities.
• Work with CPA firm and auditors on yearly financial review or audit.
• Supervise cash collection and invoice recording.
• Implement accounting policies to comply with GAAP, tax requirements, state reporting requirements, and management reporting requirements.
• Supervise accounting staff.
• Apply an internal control system to ensure legal and fiscal compliance with laws and generally accepted practices applicable to the operation of the organization.
• Responsible for accounting classification of all expenditures and documents.
• Oversee payroll processing, workers compensation and general liability audit.
• Accounts Reconciliations

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimal 3 years of accounting experience.
• Proficient with accounting software, spreadsheet software, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Skilled at defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

Operation and Maintenance Field Technician

Work within a team to perform required preventative maintenance activities on commercial and residential PV systems. Responding to corrective maintenance cases including troubleshooting, testing, and repair.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducting on-site routine maintenance, service and repair of commercial and residential photovoltaic equipment.

DC and AC testing included but not limited to polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, insulation resistance testing.

Identify un-safe work or operating conditions and take proper action to neutralize hazards.

Ensuring the vehicle, tooling, electronics, software and company property issued are accounted for taken care of.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

NABCEP PV Installer certification

Two-four years verifiable electrical installation experience.

Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design/construction practices

Clear understanding of OSHA safe work place practices and procedure

Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams

Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight.

Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off shift hours and weekends.

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short distances over duration of shift.

Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures

Able to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis

Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; hard hat, steel toed shoes, rubber insulated gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection)

Ability to stand or walk for 8-10 hours a day.

Monitoring Field Technician

The Monitoring Field Technician is responsible for the physical installation of solar PV Monitoring System for residential, commercial and utility applications.   The Monitoring Field Technician works will closely work with Construction teams to ensure site readiness for installation the Monitoring System, and is responsible for a safe, high quality installation that meets the expectations of Strata Solar Field Engineering and the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Perform all tasks necessary for the installation of utility scale communication systems.
  •  Apply the highest level of workmanship to all elements of the job to insure a quality installation.
  •  Based on customer requirements and drawings from engineering, plan the onsite installation of a monitoring system.
  • Work closely with the Construction Managers and Superintendents to make sure that systems are installed on schedule and according to the design.
  • Maintain inventory and tracking of the tools, equipment, system components and hardware.
  • Make sure that power tools and equipment are operated in a safe manner.
  • Maintain tools to ensure a long functional life of the equipment.
  • Keep work areas, company vehicles and warehouse clean and organized.
  • Work on any other projects or assignments as directed by management.
  • Adhere to all Safety and Quality Standards as well as department’s and company’s Policies and Procedures.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  •  Must have an understanding of electro-mechanical or electrical wiring, both AC and DC, experience HIGHLY preferred
  • Based on detail drawings from engineering, plan the onsite installation of the system.
  • Familiarity with RJ45, RJ12, CAT 6, TCP/IP, RS-485, MODBUS TCP, Wireless communications, Routers, and analog and digital signaling.
  •  Problem solving and trouble resolution.

Construction Manager

The Solar Installation Construction Manager (Commercial) is the responsible party for overseeing, coordinating, and successful completing Strata Solar utility scale solar farms and large roof top arrays. The Construction Manager oversees multiple solar sites with a superintendent at each site reporting to the Construction Manager.

 

Requirements of the job:

Education:

• Minimum 4 year bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience

• OSHA 30 Training preferred

• NABCEP PV Certification preferred

• Electrical License preferred

 

Experience & Skills:

• 5 years of commercial construction management experience

• Previous solar electrical experience highly desired

• Must have knowledge of National Electrical Code

• Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and Knowledge of OSHA safety standards

• Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and under budget

• Experience working with city/county permitting offices and inspectors

Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and successfully completing the array portion of a utility scale solar farm. The Superintendent is a member of the build’s leadership team, which includes the construction manager, lead electrician and project manager.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 4 year bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent work experience.

OSHA 30 Training preferred.

NABCEP PV or Thermal Certification preferred.

3 years of construction supervision experience.

Previous large ground mount solar experience highly desired.

Experience implementing quality control/quality assurance processes.

Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

Understanding of construction math.

Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and under budget.

Able to analyze project scenarios and implement site-specific design modifications.

Strong problem solving skills.

Proven ability to manage and motivate employees.

Pays attention to detail and quality workmanship.

Solar Electrician

The Solar Electrician works with and often leads crews responsible for the installation of solar PV systems for large utility scale ground-mount, commercial rooftop and residential applications. The Electrician is responsible for a safe, high quality installation that meets customer expectations, and complies with all applicable electrical codes and standards.

 

Requirements:

 

Education/Certifications:

Current NC Unlimited Electrical License

OSHA 10 Training preferred.

NABCEP Entry Level Certification preferred.

NABCEP PV Certification preferred.

 

Experience & Skills:

Solar installation experience

Must be able to read construction drawings and diagrams, and can develop a work plan and material list.

Demonstrated knowledge of electrical installation, both AC and DC, and of relevant electrical codes.

Demonstrated application of construction safety practices & can develop and implement a job hazard analysis (JHA).

Effective at instructing crew members; explains what needs to be done and provides clear instructions as to how to do the job.
