Why Solar?

Workforce Development

Strata Solar believes in creating local jobs for local projects.  We work very closely with employment and economic development offices where our major projects are built and we hire and train individuals for a secure future in solar development.

Our strategy is to build our utility scale solar projects in regional ‘clusters’ so that our teams move from one job to the next creating sustainable long term job growth.

Strata Solar is bringing 400 solar construction jobs to Virginia!

Over the next couple of weeks, Strata will be hosting several job fairs across the area, with plans to interview and potentially hire qualified candidates on the spot.

Strata Solar Hires for Western Cluster of Solar Farms

Strata Solar hires 170 new staff to begin work on a new group of utility scale solar projects totalling over 38 MW in western North Carolina.

Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) September 06, 2012

Strata Solar recently held job fairs at the Urban League of Central Carolinas in Charlotte and Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory to hire a new workforce to build a series of utility scale solar farms in the western part of the state. The events were a huge success with nearly 250 people attending resulting in Strata Solar extending offers to 170 of the attendees.

Strata Solar’s western cluster will ultimately consist of at least six 6.4 MW solar farms with each project utilizing over 26,000 solar panels to create enough clean energy to power nearly 1,000 average households in North Carolina. Development has already begun on the first two projects in Mocksville and Arndt. The following four solar projects will be located in Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, and Lincoln counties.

“We are very proud of the jobs we are creating,” said Markus Wilhelm, CEO, Strata Solar. “Too often job creation gets left out of the solar discussion. We recently started construction on our fifth and sixth farms in our southeastern cluster where we have been employing a similar number of dedicated employees since the start of the year. To be adding another 170 new people to the roster – people who have been fighting hard to find a job, people with families, this is what it’s about for me, for our company.’

Strata Solar worked closely with the Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development Board, the Region C Workforce Development Board, the Urban League of Central Carolinas and the Western Piedmont Workforce Development Board to set up and drive awareness of the job fairs.
